What do volunteers do?

Volunteers at Alone in London are actively involved in the following activities:

What Do Volunteers Do

  • Providing a welcoming and safe environment to young people arriving at the Alone in London Service and giving them appropriate information about the support they can access
  • Offering young people advice around housing and benefits as well as supporting them with other referrals as necessary
  • Supporting young people to complete documents such as application forms, CVs, cover letters and supporting them with online applications and research
  • Co-facilitating group work with young people in secondary schools to raise awareness of homelessness and promote good communication skills

Volunteers also occasionally support with admin, research, marketing and fundraising tasks.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone with time, enthusiasm and commitment (no qualifications or previous experience necessary).

We welcome interest from all sections of the community and recognise the value in having a diverse volunteering workforce in terms of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality, faith and ability.

We also encourage existing, or former, service users to contact us to talk about their options for volunteering within the organisation or elsewhere.
